Joseph Middleton is one of the most established casting directors in the United States. He casts feature films and is always on the look out for new talent. He has been most generous over the years with TAN members, by not only reading them, but also by helping to hire more than a dozen of its actors. His most recent credits include “Bourne Supremacy”, “Bourne Identity”, “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, and currently “Fair Game: The Valerie Plame Story”.
Hugh’s a graduate of UCLA and was born and raised in Philly. Hugh started out at Bobby Ball Talent then moved to Coast To Coast Talent and has been there for several years. He handles adult commercials as well as sports celebrities. He reps several members. TAN has an established internship program there that Hugh helps coordinate. He’s an easy-going guy who carries that attitude over into his work.
Larry was a longtime theatrical agent and VP of Talent at The Gersh Agency and as of 2006 has transitioned into management with Principal Entertainment. He is very actor friendly, having started as an actor. He likes to take his time with newer actors and share with them lessons on being persistent and focused. Having been here before, members walk away with the big picture of being a successful as an actor. He likes handling actors by taking them beyond where they currently are – whether they are developmental or working actors looking to becoming stars. He handles top Actors in television, film and Broadway. His clients include Oscar-nominated Tom Wilkinson, Brendan Gleeson, ALexanderSkarsgard, Cheryl Hines, Katy Mixon and Oscar nominated Dan Futterman, among others. He is originally from New York. He moved out here in 1999. Before he worked in the New York office at William Morris.
Abby is a young sweet lady who has been a commercial agent and owner at DDO Artists agency for a few years now. She became partner in the agency with three others – all young and energetic. She handles a wide variety of ages and types. The agency is doing quite well and has already changed industry perception of the agency. Her people are getting out. She is really fun and cool. This agency also handles print, dance & Equity.
David Ziff is the Director of the On-Camera department of Cunningham, Escott, Slevin & Doherty, aka: (CESD). CESD is one of the top commercial agencies in the U.S. David, a terrifically charming and fun guy started as actor in NY. Became an assistant at Gersh, and then became an agent at Susan Smith. At CESD, he and the other agents deal with 70 commercial casting directors. He is very actor friendly and very selective when choosing clients. He finds potential clients through friends, CD referrals, etc. CESD actors work constantly. David looks at all levels of actors and is a huge fan of TAN.
Lonnie Hamerman recently celebrated her tenth year in casting. She most recently Lonnie cast the pilots "90210" for the CW network, "Dark Blue" for TNT, "The Forgotten" for ABC and Fox networks "Fringe" for which she was nominated for a Casting Society of America award. Previously she cast “Without A Trace", the comedy series “Monk” for which she was again nominated for an Emmy Award, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, "Angel" and the syndicated series, “She Spies”. Ms. Hamerman was also nominated for an Emmy and a CSA Award for the tv movie "The Ron Clark Story" and has cast several independent features including indie favorite “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover”, which premiered to sold out audiences at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. She also worked on the Universal Studios feature, “The Perfect Man”, starring Hilary Duff. In her previously life Lonnie was a professional dance, actor and is a proud lifetime member of The Actors Network.
MARY LOU BELLI is an Emmy Award winner producer, writer, and director. She has just fished directing “Monk” starring Emmy award winner Tony Shalhoub. Next she will be directing “The Wizards of Waverly Place” on the Disney Channel. Last season she directed “The Game,” the spinoff to “Girlfriends” on the CW which she directed for 7 consecutive seasons. She directed the pilot of the Web series 3Way, winner of 2 Logo awards and The AfterEllen.com 2008 Visibility Awards . With over 100 episodes to her credit, Mary Lou directed "Living with Fran" starring Fran Drescher, "Misconceptions" starring Jane Leeves, and "Eve" starring hip hop artist Eve, as well as “The Hughleys,” “Charles in Charge," "Major Dad," and “Sister, Sister.” Mary Lou received BET nominations for directing "Girlfriends" and "One on One” as well as a Prism Award for "Girlfriends." After receiving a BA in theatre from Penn State, Mary Lou acted in musical theatre and soaps in New York, followed by a Los Angeles career producing and directing theatre with over 75 play productions to her credit. Among the awards she holds the dearest is her citation from the late Mayor Tom Bradley for her work with abused children. She lectures frequently throughout the United States including many universities such as AFI, NYU, Northwestern, and UConn. She is the co-author of two books: “The Sitcom Career Book.” and "Acting for Young Actors" and is the head of the Education Advisory Committee for 3 Minute Highschool.com. She has been served as judge and/or guest speaker for four consecutive years for the CSU Media Arts Fest, a judge for the Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant, a lecturer at the Chautauqua Institute, and a panelist for Women In Film, the DGA, SAG, and AFTRA. She’s judged and lectured at for the California Independent Film Festival for the last 2 years and been a guest artist at the International Thespian Festival for secondary school theatre attended by thousands of teens and high school theatre teachers. Each summer Mary Lou teaches Acting for the Camera classes the U.S. Performing Arts Camps. Last fall, she judged the Sapporo Short Film Festival to Japan. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two teenage children….all actors!
Michelle Gertz has been an active Casting Director in Los Angeles since 1997. She has worked in all aspects of casting: studio features films, independent films, television pilots and series, an animated feature film, new media and interactive campaigns and the occasional high profile commercial. Michelle trained with, and eventually partnered with, Joseph Middleton. She collaborated on American Pie (the original and the sequel), GO, Bring It On, Legally Blonde and The Bourne Identity. In 2002, she served as VP of Casting for Universal Studios while Joanna Colbert was on maternity leave. She remained on staff at Universal as a Casting Executive for a year. As Michelle enjoyed the creative process of casting features, she decided to return to being an independent CD. She cast Donnie Darko (which has become a cult classic, with Jake Gyllenhaal), Honey (with Jessica Alba & Mekhi Phifer), Big Fat Liar (directed by Shawn Levy & with Paul Giamatti, Amanda Bynes, Frankie Muniz) and Mr. & Mrs. Smith (directed by Doug Liman & starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie). Highlighting the casting process to TV audiences, Michelle completed her 3rd season on Project Greenlight (airing on HBO, then Bravo). In addition, Michelle has made international contacts, helping filmmakers in Asian markets to cast and market films such as King Of Fighters (an action-fantasy based on the video game) and Inseparable (recently filmed in China, starring Kevin Spacey and Daniel Wu). Michelle’s diverse experience and solid relationships paired with her keen eye for talent have made her the choice for many Actors, Producers & Directors.
Allen Martinez recently completed his latest effort, a new feature film teaser "Bits and Pieces", which is a dark sci-fi piece dealing with health care in the near future. Martinez’ political thriller "Intelligence" starring Milo Ventimiglia (NBC's: Heroes, Rocky Balboa) won 6 awards. Early in his career, executive producer Lawrence Bender (An Inconvenient Truth, Good Will Hunting, Inglorious Basterds) gave Martinez a start by hiring him to direct commercials through Quentin Tarantino's company: A Band Apart. Since then, Allen has been directing national campaigns for corporate giants such as: Coca-Cola, In-Bev, Subway, BlockBuster, AT&T, Anheuser-Busch, Hilton Hotels, Burger King, Univision, Yamaha, Miller Lite, Proctor & Gamble, McDonald's, Heineken, Orbitz, Wrigley's and others! Allen was selected by celebrities Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to be a top 10 finalist for Project Greenlight 2 on HBO. He has was won ACIP awards and a Clio award. Harry Victor has enjoyed a wide-range of creative experiences in this Business of Show. Grew up in Toronto, Canada & Long Island, NY. He attended Buffalo State College, collecting duel BFA degrees in Drama and Creative Writing. He pounded the pavements of New York City acting and directing over 50 plays before heading out west to Los Angeles for roles in film and television. The theatre remains a great passion for Harry and quite a few of his one-act plays continue to enjoy productions on both coasts: As Is; Cox & Cole; And Whose Fault is That?; and Special Skills. As a Writer and Producer of ‘The TV’ Harrys’ first opportunities came in the world of half-hour comedy as a staff writer for The King of Queens and The John Diresta Show. Feeling like he had 30 pages more to say he transitioned into hour-long character driven dramadys. Series credits include: Now and Again; Cover Me; Special Unit 2; Dead Like Me; Wonderfalls; LAX; Book of Daniel; Eureka; redo’s of 90210 and Melrose Place. He strives to write scripts that center around rich, flawed characters with darkly comedic and unexpected emotional journeys. He is currently developing series for ‘The TV’ and penning a new play.
Jorge is currently working on a new drama for NBC with Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs Smith, The Bourne Identity.) For two seasons Mr. Reyes was on the Writer/Producer staff for the Showtime Hit “Resurrection Blvd.” Last season, he Co-Executive Produced and Created for Mel Gibson’s Production Company the series “Kevin Hill” starring Taye Diggs. He spent the last year working on the show. He has written for the stage presenting plays at the Elephant and Lillian theatres locally. He started as writer for NY Undercover, Rescue 77 and also wrote a Pilot for Francis Ford Coppola. Currently, he’s working on a Pilot for Jennifer Lopez and a Feature Film with the Producer’ of Soul Food. He is from Buffalo, NY. Jorge is a very friendly down to earth regular guy. He has 2 other shows in preparation / development for Paramount television.
Mark Armstrong has been a talent manager since 1995, representing such actors as James Gandolfini, Chris Noth, John Ortiz and Michael Raymond-James. After graduating from USC’s School of Journalism and working as a publicist in the entertainment industry, Mark took an internship in a talent agency where he discovered his love of developing actors. He was an agent for a few years before beginning his management career with Gold/Bouchard. He has been a partner at Sanders.Armstrong.Caserta Management for almost 15 years. In addition to the actors mentioned, the firm represents Marg Helgenberger, Michael Sheen, Jack Davenport, Malin Akerman and Rooney Mara. Mark grew up in Northern California and has been residing in Los Angeles since 1988.
Phyllis is currently casting at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood.. This Equity house holds so many wonderful productions every year. Phyllis has been in Los Angeles for 8 years, tries to see as much theater as she can and occasionally teaches auditioning workshops at Steppenwolf West. She is a sincere lady needing to get to know the LA actor pool. She comes from Chicago where she spent the last seventeen years casting for the acclaimed Steppenwolf Theatre.
Paulo Andrés has been a talent manager since early 2002 handling actors across the board from developmental clients to series regulars. Some of Paulo’s clients include: long time actor Peter Riegert, Shalim Ortiz (HEROES), Marlene Forte (TYLER PERRY’S HOUSE of PAYNE), and Ethan Erickson (Melrose Place). His hugely successful commercial client Chad Brokaw is well known as the loveable “CHAD the Alltel guy”. In June 2004 he formed a partnership with Kurt Patino and opened LINK Talent Group. On May 1, 2008, with great anticipation, they merged with Rachel Rothman to create Rothman/Patino/Andrés Entertainment, expanding their collective company to include production development. Paulo started out as a performer himself, graduating from St. Edward’s University with a degree in Directing followed by a move to Los Angeles. In 1993 he joined The Actors’ Network http://www.actors-network.com and committed himself to its growth and expansion. In 1996 his devotion culminated in full partnership where his dedication to each member and his knowledge of the business transformed The Actors’ Network into the leading organization for the working actor that it is today. Paulo’s desire to assist actors in their careers was the passionate catalyst in his transition from actor to personal manager. He currently serves on the Century of Compassion board - an organization dedicated to making our current century the most compassionate and peace filled time in human existence. He speaks across the U.S. on the business of acting. In 2009, he cycled for his third time, 545 miles from San Francisco to L.A. in the annual AIDS Life Cycle fundraiser. He has also run 5 marathons.
Christopher is a former TAN member and received his first SAG Award Nomination in 2008 as part of the ensemble of Ugly Betty. In 2009 Gorham starred in 3 independent films and is set to star in the new USA Network series, Covert Affairs (Summer 2010) as a blind CIA agent opposite Piper Perabo. Gorham's credits also include Harper’s Island, as well as Co-Starring with Henry Winkler and Stockard Channing on the CBS sit-com, Out of Practice, which was Executive Produced by Kelsey Grammar. Prior to that he was a series regular on Medical Investigation and played the title role in UPN's Jake 2.0. He also starred in Odyssey 5 and Popular as well as recurring on Felicity and Party of Five. The keys to his success have always been to work hard and be good at his craft. He started just like everyone else, slowly building his resume. He is a great person to glean information from because he has been able to build his career from Guest Star on a short lived show, to getting fired from a picked up pilot, to starring as the title role, in less than 5 years.
