Anne-Marie has spent 12 years on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild and has served as 1st V.P. for 3 terms. She is currently SAG’s 1st National Vice-President. Clancy Brown ( www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Clancy+Brown) has served just one year as a Hollywood Board Member and National Board Alternate but it's been a busy year. He has been seated on 5 negotiating teams and 4 other committees or sub-committees. He has attended 6 National Board Plenaries as an alternate. He is an actor. He is married with two kids. William Reibert Mapother, Jr. ( www.imdb.com/name/nm0544611/) grew up in Louisville, KY and graduated with a BA in Literature from the University of Notre Dame. For his performance in the critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film In the Bedroom, William shared in a SAG Award nomination for outstanding performance by a cast. This is extremely important to our future and to our ability as a professional community to make a living!! Morgan Fairchild ( www.imdb.com/name/nm0000392/) started acting as a child in theater in her native Texas. She has now been acting for 50 years and been a member of SAG and AFTRA for 41 of those years, Equity for 40. She has worked almost all the contracts from industrials to commercials, from film to television, including, series, TV movies, and mini series, such as North and South, Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4. She had several series (Flamingo Road, Falcon Crest and Paper Dolls, and, most recently, Fashion House) and has had recurring parts in many others, including Mork and Mindy, Roseanne, Cybill, Friends (as Chandler’s mom) and, currently, Chuck. She has worked in regional theater, Broadway, Off-Broadway and several national tours, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and recently, The Graduate. Episodic credits go from Dallas to My Name is Earl, from Barnaby Jones to Law and Order SVU, and from Happy Days to Two and Half Men. The first movie she worked on was Bonnie and Clyde. Morgan first joined the SAG Board as a national board member in 2002, and has been there ever since. She has been a co-chair of the Legislative Committee and on the SAG-AFTRA Relations Committee (which became the committee that fostered the last attempt at merger), as well as a member (previously and currently) of the National Executive Committee. She is currently on the Legislative Committee and a member of the SAG-AFTRA Relations Committee again. She has served on one commercials negotiating committee and was part of the task force that resolved the stalemated TV/Theatrical negotiations in ’09. She is also on the AFTRA LA board and has served as a delegate to several AFTRA conventions. Because of her connections to the real political world, Morgan was instrumental in arranging a meeting with an Undersecretary of State that included, besides SAG and AFTRA delegates, those from MPAA, AMPTP, DGA, WGA, and IATSE, to discuss the issues that affect all our memberships economically – including piracy, intellectual property law, illegal downloads and copyright infringement. Morgan was originally elected as part of the Restore Respect slate. As time went on, she eventually found herself the only non-Membership First member left of the Hollywood Division Board for quite a while, until UFS gained some seats in’08. She belongs to no slate and is the only independent currently on the Hollywood Board. Anthony DeSantis ( www.imdb.com/name/nm0220876/) has been a SAG actor since 1996. Anthony is no longer a member of any slate or group. Since then he has done zero non-union jobs. In 2000 he was involved in the Commercial Strike, which was a mixed success. In 2003 he ran for the first time for the Board of the Screen Actors Guild as a member of the Membership First slate. This began a run of six consecutive one-year terms as a Hollywood Alternate. During that time he served on more than a dozen committees, chairing several. Negotiating teams include the following: One TV/TH negotiating team; one Interactive contract Negotiating team, serving as vice chair; and two commercial contract negotiating teams, serving as the Hollywood Vice Chair in 2009. He is also active with the SAG Foundation where he serves as a frequent moderator for their Conversations series. Anthony continues to pursue his acting career and remains involved with the all of the Commercial Contract committees. In between his service to the Guild, Anthony has found time to appear in some of the following television programs: 24, Without a Trace, Men of a Certain Age, CSI, Will and Grace, ER, King of Queens, Arrested Development, and others. He has worked off Broadway and in theater productions in Los Angeles and has over 50 commercial credits. | | Fri, Sep 03 3:00 PM | Labor Day Office closes EARLY! TAN Members | | Mon, Sep 06 12:00 AM | Labor Day TAN Closed (All Day Event) TAN Members | | Tue, Sep 07 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM | Type Me (Activity - West, Kevin E.) TAN Members 3-HOURS LONG: NO LATECOMERS, NO LEAVING EARLY, NO EXCEPTIONS. Park on a side street not a meter.
The Actors’ Network created a specific form to “Type” each other in four areas: Visual, Essence, Stereotypes and Professions. The results are designed to assist you in understanding how other folks see you, what type of feeling they get from you and how they would cast you. It is one of the most valuable tools you’ll ever get as an actor. Type is Three hours long. Realize that how you wear your hair and attire play a major role. We recommend doing at least two or three of these per year. Come to each one with a different look. | | Tue, Sep 07 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM | Orientation TAN Members | | Wed, Sep 08 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM | Clay Banks (Special - Teacher) TAN Members Performance Coach Clay Banks executes quite a unique approach when he's addressing professional groups. It'll seriously change the way you approach your work...as well as your life! | | Wed, Sep 08 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM | Target List: CD/TV (Topic - West, Kevin E.) TAN Members The Actors’ Network has been around since 1991. Much of what you see talked about these days around town we put into play first and focusing on target lists is a good example of our pioneer spirit. The creation of a target list has nothing to do with mailing and everything to do with who and why. This is done well before you are ready to mail anything out. How do you select a casting director target list that makes your approach more effective? How can you adjust your lists over time? This leads to long term and some short-term results. How do you select a target list that makes your approach effective? What TV shows are more easily targeted? What shows are best for you given type and resume? Let’s hit bottom feeder shows. Learn about maintenance and adding to or deleting from target lists. Be more specific with greater results. | | Wed, Sep 08 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM | Power Group #3 (Valley) TAN Members | | Thu, Sep 09 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM | Steve Kaplan (Special - Teacher - Comedy Intensive) TAN Members For almost 20 years, Steve Kaplan has been the industry's most respected and sought-after expert on comedy. This October, he's offering an Actors Comedy Intensive Workshop here in Los Angeles. | | Thu, Sep 09 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM | Contracts: SAG Modified (Topic - West, Kevin E.) TAN Members In about 1995 SAG created the modified film contracts. This was in conjunction with the burgeoning internet world as well as the digital video technology. Since that time so much confusion has passed through the actor community regarding these four types of contracts. Come to understand what it really means to you as a performer to be hired under one of these agreements. What should you be paid? Who is in charge? How do I know I’m being treated fairly? What if they sell the film? Find out what deferred payment really means, along with discussing the four modified contracts. Be informed and avoid post-performance frustration. | | Mon, Sep 13 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM | Zoe Green (Special - Teacher - Scriptwriting) TAN Members ZOË GREEN was born in England and attended Cambridge University then UCLA directing program. Since moving to Los Angeles she has sold a TV pilot "Dreamsolver" to ABC, and miniseries "The Diamond Age" with producer George Clooney to the SyFy channel. She has written feature film "The Book of Shadows" for Rob Reiner, "Tigress" for Stan Lee and is currently writing "Gargoyles" for Disney. | | Mon, Sep 13 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM | Mailing: CD’s (Topic - West, Kevin E.) TAN Members Doing another mailing to the ever elusive casting community huh. Well it is time to learn some new ways to target the appropriate shows or warm leads. Also consider that there are alternatives to simply mailing an 8x10, along with more creative things to say, things to promote and ways to be different while being effective. What actors typically fail to realize is that most actors only submit to casting directors during the busiest times of the year, which is ironically the exact same time of year that all other actors are submitting and when the casting directors have the least amount of time to pay attention to your submission. Change your strategy. | | Mon, Sep 13 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Power Group #1 (Valley) TAN Members | | Mon, Sep 13 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM | Valerie Chiovetti (Abrams Artists Agency - Agent - Comm.) TAN Members Valerie Chiovetti graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Communication and the intention of working as a television news reporter. Call it insanity: She scrapped that game plan, loaded up the car and drove out to Los Angeles to find a job in “The Biz”! Many humbling production assistant gigs later… Valerie found herself training in the mailroom of Abrams Artists Agency but quickly landed a desk assisting one of the busy commercial agents. Two years later she was privileged enough to join her mentors as one of their co-workers when she was promoted to Commercial Agent.
The rest, as they say, is history!
For the record: Valerie enjoys strong espresso, stronger martinis and less-than-boring bios. :O)

TAN Members This is an opportunity to discuss any issues and concerns you may have regarding your career or pursuit. It’s a great time to discuss situations that may have occurred or will occur due to your pursuit. Get other actors perspective on your issue so that we all become more prepared and informed about our careers. An issue can be as simple as asking about an acting coach to as difficult as how to handle an agent who is asking you out on a date. | | Thu, Sep 30 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM | Tracy Metro (Special - Teacher - Hosting) TAN Members Tracy Metro (and yes, that IS her real name!) is a television host who firmly believes that TAN is as beneficial for her career as it is for the actors in the network. Why? Because it’s not about the kinds of jobs everybody gets, but about the process by which everyone takes to get those jobs. In Tracy’s Hostess-with-the-Mostess Workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to watch hosting demos (good and bad), ask any questions you have about hosting (agents and union status) and then you’ll get a hosting workout. You’ll practice the art of the cue card, the infomercial pitch, partner reads and more. Scripts will be provided; however, feel free to bring any hosting scripts on which you like to be coached. Tracy got her start in news at the ripe age of 13, when she was a guest commentator on “News Bag,” a Fox Television news program for children. Soon after, she went on to host “Dance Club 21,” an American Bandstand-style show, for the Washington, DC area. Metro fled the nation’s capital for the bright lights of Manhattan where she attended and graduated from New York University’s TISCH School of the Arts. After relocating to Los Angeles, Metro began working as an on-air television host for TLC, Fine Living, Discovery, E!, Disney, HDnet, and even working for Mr. Reality Television, Mark Burnett, in the areas of cooking, DIY, fashion, shopping, green lifestyle, entertainment news, craft, et al. Metro has been a local news reporter, a traffic reporter for CBS as well as Executive Producer of Discovery Health’s special, Born Schizophrenic. And, if you’re ever up in the middle of the night you can sometimes see her hawking a wacky product in an infomercial she’s hosting! Tracy resides full-time in Los Angeles and is married to Marty Metro (CEO of UsedCardboardBoxes.com) and is the proud mommy of a rescued Italian Greyhound named Sasekele. (Special - SOC: As A Career) TAN Members We have to limit this to 45. So make your reservation!
This is a rare moment at TAN, but we truly have found a way for you to “help your career and help yourself” at the same dang time. We have been in and around this city for years. We’ve seen every possible MLM (multi-level marketing) company that has come and gone. We typically do not endorse such things, but in this case...we just HAVE to. Send Out Cards is a company. You can buy its service, which is in DIRECT line with the TAN philosophy of odd-size marketing for yourself, as well as potentially choosing to make it a business and have a new form of income. Send Out Cards - Building Relationships & Create A Business...One Card At A Time!!
The SOC sign-up is facilitated by TAN Lifer, Peter Bedard, who is an actor and producer who discovered Send Out Cards through a friend who was writing on the George Lopez show. Send Out Cards (SOC) turned out, after hearing Kevin’s philosophy on actor-marketing, to be the perfect way to implement the TAN philosophy, build relationships and create a "fan" base. Peter will show you how to create an actor card online which is then mailed (HARD COPY) to his target list as an odd sized mailer through the USPS. SOC has a full data base, custom design card program, calendar system, gift giving system (when was the last time you sent brownies to your favorite casting director?), and the cards are printed in your handwriting font with your signature. SOC prints, addresses, stamps, licks, and mails the cards for you. Imagine doing a target list campaign mailer in 20 seconds totally customized and personalized! We will only be able to accommodate non-TAN friends of yours if the room isn’t full. So feel free to add a name or two to your EMAILED reservation, BUT if you do not hear from us confirming them...then the reservation will only be for you. IF YOU GOT THE TIME DON’T MISS THIS!! |
